Stop Managing Bad Behavior. Let’s Fix It.
Living in Washington with a reactive, anxious, or disobedient dog is exhausting. Whether you are avoiding crowded trails at Marymoor Park, struggling with leash-pulling on slick rainy sidewalks, or dealing with a dog that panics when you leave for the office. You are not out of options.
Group classes and "quick fix" boot camps don't work for real-world problems. We succeed where other trainers fail by addressing the root cause of the behavior. Fill out the form to connect with a local expert and build a customized plan for your dog.
Does This Sound Like Your Daily Life?
We specialize in the dogs that other trainers turn away. See if any of these sound familiar:
The Leash Battle
The Leash Battle
Lunging, barking, or dragging you down the street the moment they see another dog.
The Houdini
The Houdini
Refusing to come when called, making off-leash hikes impossible.
The Anxious Mess
The Anxious Mess
Pacing, whining, or destroying the house the second you leave.
The Liability
The Liability
Showing aggressive, unpredictable behavior toward guests, kids, or other pets.
If you nodded "yes" to any of these, we can help.
We Train for the Real World in Seattle, Tacoma & Surrounding Areas.
We don't train dogs for empty obedience rings. We offer personalized programs designed to help your dog succeed in your actual day-to-day life.
Premium Dog Boarding & Training
Immersive training in a real home environment, never a warehouse kennel.
If your dog needs a total reset, our Board & Train program provides 24/7 structure. Your dog will live inside the home of a certified Washington trainer with a strict maximum of 5 dogs per session. We focus on state-of-mind training, taking them on real-world field trips to local neighborhoods and parks to ensure their new manners hold up against real distractions. You receive weekly video updates and extensive coaching so the results stick when they come home.

For any breed, any age, any problem.
Whether you have a stubborn working breed or a hyperactive rescue, our comprehensive training approach bridges the communication gap between you and your dog. We move past bribing with treats and focus on mutual respect. In-Home Dog Training
Hands-on coaching right in your home.
Need help exactly where the bad habits happen? Our private, in-home training brings a Koru K9 expert directly to your Seattle area home. We start with an intensive 2-hour onboarding session to assess your dog and immediately begin hands-on work. From there, we coach you through customized, 60-minute private sessions, empowering you to become the confident leader your dog needs.
Dog Anxiety & Fear Training
Build true confidence for dogs with big feelings.
City noise, strangers, and separation can cause debilitating panic for an anxious dog. We do not use "flooding" or force your dog into terrifying situations. Instead, we use low threshold exposure and predictable routines to teach your dog how to self-regulate and relax. We help Seattle's most anxious dogs learn how to finally settle and feel safe in their environment.

Puppy Foundation Training
Stop bad habits before they take root.
Set your new puppy up for a lifetime of success in the Pacific Northwest. Our puppy programs focus on the essentials: reliable potty training, crate training, early socialization, and confidence building. We teach you how to properly engage with your puppy so they grow into a balanced, well-behaved adult dog that you can take anywhere.
Aggressive Dog Training & Rehab
We replace conflict with calm. Don't give up on your dog.
Reactivity and aggression are terrifying, but they don't have to define your dog's life. We specialize in complex behavioral rehab, including human aggression, dog-to-dog fighting, and resource guarding. Using strict safety protocols (like proper muzzle acclimation), we lower your dog's defensive arousal and teach them how to handle stressful triggers without lashing out.

Your Dog’s New Life Starts Here.
Don't spend another rainy day stressed by your dog's behavior. Let’s turn the chaos into calm.
Yes! We have trainers stationed throughout the region, proudly serving Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Everett, Bellevue, and the surrounding areas.
We do not “side” ourselves with any one approach, as every dog is different. We will choose a path and use the tools that are right for you and your dog. We will show you how to properly use these training tools. Unfortunately, there is a lot of mis-information and plenty of opinions out there when it comes to dog training. Beware of any trainer that tells you that their way is the only way to train a dog!
Modern E-Collar training is the most safe, humane, effective, and reliable training tool available today. We use low-level, communication-style, modern E-Collar training. We use prong collars because we find them to be the best tool for connecting and communicating with the dog with the least amount of physical stress to the dog and owner. Most tools tend to only mask or manage the behavior, while the prong collar allows us to actually break through and effortlessly communicate, creating a vastly different state of mind and a highly responsive dog. When used correctly, they have been proven to be the least physically taxing, most humane, and one of the safest tools available. Please check out our YouTube page so you can see these tools in action.
Yes. We work with any breed, any dog, any problem, and offer a range of services. We specialize in working with the most challenging of dogs, including those with leash reactivity or aggression. If you are struggling with your dog’s behavior, please don’t give up. We can help you.
Yes, we are balanced trainers — which means that we don’t adhere to one specific method. We work with your dog to find out what motivates them. One size does not fit all — dogs are unique in their likes and dislikes, just like humans. Some dogs aren’t very food motivated and prefer play, toys, praise, etc.
All of our sessions are non-refundable and have a 24-hour cancellation policy. We schedule out our dog training sessions weeks in advance and ask that you are committed to the time that you agree on. Dog training is a process of teamwork and collaboration, and due to the many variables involved in the training of your dog, including owner commitment, consistency, and doing your homework, it would be unethical for us to offer a guarantee. We can get dogs to behave for us all day long, but that doesn’t do us any good if they aren’t behaving for you! Our goal is to train YOU to train your dog. If you are consistent and do your homework, you will see breakthrough results and amazing transformations.
Your initial session with Koru K9 Dog Training is roughly 1.5 to 2 hours (longer if there is 3 or more dogs). We spend a great deal of time analyzing the problem behaviors and your goals. From there, we determine a training program that will outline how many sessions are needed. Each session after the initial will last roughly 1 hour depending on your dog’s ability that day and what is being taught. Remember, you as an owner, must be fully invested in this learning process to get the results you want!
Right away! It’s important to set your puppy up for lifelong success by starting training the minute your new puppy comes home.
Of course! Consider this like sending your child to college. We are like the cool teachers, but you’ll always be your dogs #1. We understand that it’s difficult to send your dog away for 3+ weeks for a Board & Train program, so you will get weekly updates, with pictures and videos.
At Koru K9, 100% of our focus is on you and your dog and your unique situation. We look at the entire picture and address the behavioral problems from a holistic standpoint. Dogs are intelligent, unique individuals with specific needs…a one sized fits all approach to training does not work. Many times what goes on inside of your home results in problems outside of the home, which is why we conduct our On Board session in YOUR home. We identify and work through behavioral and environmental issues in your every day environment and in a setting where we can control when to introduce other distractions (i.e. other dogs, people, children, etc.). Most problem behavior is NOT best addressed in a group setting with many distractions, other dogs with behavioral issues or one trainer for multiple dogs without the ability to customize a program or dedicate the time needed to address your specific issues.
